Products matched incorrectly

If a draft order contains the wrong product for a line item, here is how to fix it and prevent it from happening again.

  1. Open the draft order in Shopify Admin > Orders > Drafts.
  2. Edit the line item to replace it with the correct product.
  3. Review the rest of the order before sending.

The AI uses a two-step process: exact SKU lookup first, then semantic search by product description. Incorrect matches usually happen when:

  • Multiple products have similar names or descriptions. The semantic search picked the closest match, but it was wrong.
  • The customer uses a product code that does not match any SKU in your Shopify catalog. The AI fell back to description matching.
  • Your catalog has generic or duplicate product titles. The more specific your titles and descriptions, the better the matching.
  • Add SKUs to your Shopify products. Exact SKU matches are the most reliable path. If your customers reference item codes on their POs, set those as your Shopify SKUs.
  • Make product titles specific. “Blue Widget 100mm” matches better than “Widget”.
  • Add variant details. Include size, color, and material in your variant titles.

If the same product keeps matching incorrectly, open a support ticket or email support@levelops.co. The team can add a custom mapping rule for that specific product.
